Windfall's A Stitch in Thyme
Stitch
7/26/96 - 10/8/04
Stitch was Chaucer's full sister and litter mate. She was originally kept by her breeder as pick bitch of the litter, but she was diagnosed with orthopedic problems, so her breeder decided responsibly not to breed her. In addition, Stitch was low dog on the totem pole in her kennel. and she wasn't thriving very well, as she was afraid of the alpha bitch. We were very lucky to get Stitch from her breeder - Jan and Chuck McNamee of Windfall Mastiffs at the age of 10 months of age.
Stitch took quite a while to several months to filly get used to her new home, but she was always a very sweet girl, even during her "getting used to her new home" period.
Stitch ended up being a very big bitch. She was 190lbs (probably a little overweight), but she had incredibly huge bone. I'm not sure I've ever seen such bone on a bitch. She also used to have huge paws, or hoofers as we'd call them, but she never completely understood how big she was - which made for allot of comedy around the house.
Stitch used to love to lay outside. As you'll see from the various pictures, she'd lay in the rain, snow, and on any wet surface!!! She was quite a character. As you'll also see from the pictures, she LOVED our cats. She'd sit or lay and watch them for hours. She'd rather watch the cats than eat!! She never could quite figure out completely how to love them without scaring them, but she came close.
Stitch died of Bloat on Friday evening October 8th, 2004. We fed her, went out to dinner for a couple hours, and came home to find her bloated by our back door. She was only with us for a few more minutes before she passed.
Make sure you love your dogs each and every day, and let them know it each and every day. Stitchy died at the age of 8. Her mother lived to be 12, and we thought we'd have her for at least a few more years.
Please don't take your dogs for granted.
